Sir Mathias Walukagga's Shocking Vow: No Law Degrees for His Children

Musician-turned-politician Sir Mathias Walukagga has sparked controversy after stating that he would denounce any of his children who express interest in pursuing a law degree. Walukagga made the remarks while expressing frustration over his disqualification from the recently concluded parliamentary race for Busiro East Constituency ahead of the 2026 general elections. He blamed what he described as a flawed justice system, saying his experience had left him deeply disillusioned with the legal profession. “I have children at home, but if any of them tells me they want to pursue a law degree, I will denounce them. I will immediately understand that he or she does not belong to me. We expect justice from courts of law, but what comes out of there is totally frustrating.” The singer went on to criticize the state of governance in the country, describing it as “rotten and decaying.” He argued that meaningful progress would only be achieved through significant reforms, starting with leadership renewal. “This country is rotten. We need to make many changes if we are to progress. Some of the aged political leaders must be replaced with fresh minds so that things can move in the right direction.”
