Tomas Cvancara Joins Celtic: Full Agreement Reached for Striker

Celtic are set to add to their striking ranks in the coming days, according to reports - with Borussia Monchengladbach striker Tomas Cvancara set to join the Hoops on a loan-with-option deal after a deal was agreed. Martin O'Neill's side have been crying out for a striker in the first half of the campaign, with youngster Johnny Kenny failing to replicate the form shown in recent seasons by the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Adam Idah and Odsonne Edouard. However, that all looks to be changing at present, with a deal for Czech talisman Cvancara on the cards despite his lack of games for the German outfit. Sky Sports: Tomas Cvancara to Celtic is a 'Done Deal' The report by Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg on X (formerly Twitter) states that Cvancara to Celtic is a 'done deal', with the Hoops reaching a full agreement with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach for his services. A six-month loan is now underway, and there is a purchase option included for him to make the switch permanent at the end of the campaign. Celtic will cover the 25-year-old's salary until the end of the season. Plettenberg has also added that Cvancara is on his way to Glasgow at present, where he will complete his medical on Wednesday. The Hoops have already signed Bournemouth's defender Julian Araujo on loan in recent weeks, with the California-born Mexico international joining at the start of the month. Cvancara began his career in his home country of the Czech Republic, with goals galore in his time at national giants Sparta Prague back in the 2022-23 campaign where he notched 15 goals in 30 games. It hasn't quite happened for him since across Europe, but he will be hoping that a spell in Scotland can be the move to break his duck and fire the Hoops back into title contention after some poor form in recent weeks. Celtic's Proactivity Could Help Them Win the League Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland has been ruled out for up to eight weeks, meaning the Hearts captain could miss a huge chunk of the campaign, swinging the title back in Celtic and Rangers' favour. The Scotland international is the division's top goalscorer with 11 goals to his name, and although Claudio Braga has followed him up at Tynecastle with eight, Shankland represents a quarter of Hearts' goals. That's a huge loss for Derek McInnes. If Celtic can add goals to their ranks with Hearts losing out on their main outlet, it could just be the remedy for them to win the title.
