US Rep. Steve Womack's Wife, Terri Womack, Passes Away After Brief Illness

Terri Lynn Williams Womack, the wife of U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, R-Rogers, died Sunday (Jan. 19) at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville after a brief illness. She was 68. She was born on Nov. 2, 1957, in DeWitt, Ark., to H.D. and Deanie Williams. She graduated from DeWitt High School in 1976, and attended the University of Arkansas. She married Womack on Aug. 4, 1984. “Sunday afternoon, Heaven welcomed an angel,” Rep. Womack said in a statement. “My wife of 41 years, Terri Womack, went to live in eternity with Jesus. My heart is broken and that space remains without her presence. I take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering in pain and is at peace evermore. Her legacy of love will live in the hearts of all who knew her. Our family appreciates the outpouring of prayers and support. You have all honored her in such a special way, and we are eternally grateful.” According to information from Rep. Womack’s office, Terri spent more than 35 years working for various courts. She was chief clerk to Rogers Municipal Judge Tom Keith. Following Judge Keith’s election as circuit judge, she became his case coordinator. She later worked for Benton County Prosecutor David Clinger, before returning to the circuit court under Judge Keith and Judge Robin Green. She retired from public service in 2019. “An avid landscaper, Terri was also an excellent cook and loved testing new recipes on her family,” noted the statement from Womack’s office. “She also adored her pets, including miniature schnauzers Auggie and Cooper. But most important to her were her children and grandchildren. With all boys, she was confined to learning and participating in the rough and tumble activities of those kids.” Gov. Sarah Sanders said Terri was an important part of Rep. Womack’s career. “Bryan and I are mourning the loss of Terri Womack, Congressman Womack’s wife of more than 40 years,” Sanders said. “She and Steve were true partners and institutions in their hometown of Rogers and across Northwest Arkansas and her loss will be felt throughout our state. Steve’s public service in the National Guard, as mayor of Rogers, and as a congressman would not have been possible without the incredible, steadfast support that Terri provided. My prayers are with Steve, the Womack’s three sons and grandchildren, and all who knew and loved Terri.” Terri was preceded in death by her parents and sister Lynda. She is survived by her husband, of the home. Also surviving are her children: William Owens, 42, of Rogers; Bradley Womack, 40, of Rogers; and Phillip Womack, 38, of Rogers. She leaves behind four grandchildren: Liam Owens, 19, of Rogers; Kaden Womack, 12, of Pea Ridge; Luka Owens, 7, of Rogers; and Mazzie Clementine, 3 months, of Rogers. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, and Womack family members.
