Men Flee Tauranga Store After Daring Daylight Theft

Police are making inquiries after an incident at a Tauranga business. Officers were called to a store in Merivale around 12pm. Police said two men entered the store, stole an item and fled in a vehicle. “Inquiries are ongoing.” A reporter at the scene said two police cars were seen on Merivale Rd. “It looked like there were talking to someone from the store.” Meanwhile, one person has been arrested after a report of shoplifting at a store at The Crossing in Tauranga. Police were alerted about 12.40pm and a man was taken into custody a short distance away, a spokesperson said. "Inquiries are ongoing."
