Severance Season 3 Prospects Dim After Golden Globes Snub

Most Severance fans were expecting the sci-fi show to have a big night at the Golden Globes last weekend, but it tragically came away empty-handed after losing most of its favorite categories to Adolescence, The Pitt, and Pluribus. This has led the show to tank on Apple TV streaming charts — it was previously in the top five as recently as a few weeks ago, but it’s now in danger of falling out of the top 10, sitting at #8. There has also been little movement on the confirmed third season, which could be contributing to its late streaming descent. Severance was Apple’s most-watched sci-fi series until last year, when Pluribus broke its record. The new sci-fi series stars Rhea Seehorn and comes from writer Vince Gilligan, who is best known for creating Breaking Bad. There were no hard feelings from the Severance crew when Pluribus broke its record, as director and producer Ben Stiller took to his personal X account to congratulate Pluribus for taking the crown. Pluribus has also been renewed for another season, but similar to Severance, it’s unclear at this time when it will be released — hopefully sooner rather than later. Severance stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, an employee at Lumon Industries. Lumon offers some of its employees an opportunity to undergo a procedure known as severance, which completely separates a person into two personalities, one for work and one for outside of work. The show has developed a large following through its first two critically acclaimed seasons. It also stars Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, and more. What Else Is Popular on Apple TV Right Now? The most popular show on Apple TV right now is Tehran, the espionage thriller that has taken the crown from Pluribus as the platform’s new hit (for now). Pluribus is still hanging around in the #2 spot, though, and it’s followed by Hijack, the thriller series led by Idris Elba. Hijack just debuted its second season earlier this week, and it’s poised to climb even higher on streaming charts as more episodes are released. Apple TV has also proven to be a certified home of great movies — Brad Pitt’s F1 is the most popular film on the chart, along with Anya Taylor-Joy’s fan-favorite sci-fi epic, The Gorge.
