Scottish Cup Fifth Round Draw: Live Reaction as Rangers, Celtic & Holders Learn Their Fate

WE’RE in the midst of the most exciting Scottish title race for FORTY years. And the business end of the Scottish Cup promises to be every bit as wide open. Scotland’s major cup competition has taken centre stage again this weekend, and now the draw for the fifth round has been completed. Rangers were first to seal their passage through round four after a comfortable 5-0 win over Annan at Ibrox on Friday night. Championship side Dunfermline dumped Hibs out of the competition with a 1-0 win at the death to produce a cup shock. And the other half of Edinburgh were on the end of an upset as Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts lost to Falkirk on penalties. Holders Aberdeen avoided a shock after edging past Raith Rovers 1-0 at Pittodrie. Another surprise result of the day was League One leaders Stenhousemuir’s 4-0 thumping of struggling Championship side Morton. Celtic battled past Auchinleck Talbot 1-0 at Kilmarnock‘s Rugby Park today. Stranraer vs Queen’s Park was the only tie that wasn’t played, and has been rescheduled for Tuesday after the fourth-round fixture was called off due to a waterlogged pitch at Stair Park. The draw for the last 16 is now complete, and we have some tasty ties to look forward to next month.
