Tragic Multi-Vehicle Reid Highway Crash Claims One Life

A man has died following a serious multi-vehicle crash on Reid Highway. Police said the collision occurred about 12.55pm on Reid Highway in Dianella and involved a white Toyota LandCruiser, a white Kia Carnival and a white Isuzu truck. The 49-year-old male driver of the Kia Carnival died at the scene from his injuries. His 26-year-old male passenger was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 52-year-old male driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser was also conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital, while his 12-year-old female passenger was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital. Both were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The 47-year-old male driver of the Isuzu truck was not injured. St John WA dispatched five ambulances to the crash scene as emergency services worked to treat the injured and manage traffic. Reid Highway westbound was closed at Alexander Drive, with motorists warned to avoid the area as traffic backed up and towing crews remained on site for hours. Meanwhile about 2.25pm a second crash caused turmoil for motorists westbound on Reid Highway at Marmion Avenue in Karrinyup. The right turning lane was partially blocked before the incident was cleared about 3.25pm. Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are examining the scene and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam or mobile phone footage to come forward.
