Ørsted has been ranked ninth globally for sustainability by Corporate Knights, marking its ninth consecutive inclusion on the list. This recognition stems from its high percentage of sustainable revenue and investments, and the successful completion of its green transformation. The company achieved its decarbonization target, with renewable energy now comprising 99% of its production.
Ørsted takes ninth place in this year’s Corporate Knights Global 100, which ranks the most sustainable companies in the world based on an assessment of the companies’ sustainability performance. This is the ninth year in a row that Ørsted is included on the Global 100 list of the most sustainable companies in the world.
Ingrid Reumert, Senior Vice President for Global Stakeholder Relations at Ørsted, says: “We’re pleased to be recognised as a global sustainability leader by Corporate Knights and to be ranked among the top ten most sustainable companies in the world again this year. Our ambition is to bring more green electrons to the grid in a sustainable manner, and we’re fully committed to helping communities, companies, and countries decarbonise through green, secure, and affordable energy.”
The main drivers behind Ørsted’s continued high ranking are its high shares of sustainable revenue (91 % in 2024) and sustainable investments (99 % in 2024). In 2025, Ørsted achieved its industry-leading decarbonisation target, marking the culmination of its transition from one of Europe’s most fossil-fuel-intensive utilities to a market leader in offshore wind. Ørsted met its science-based scope 1-2 target and effectively completed its green transformation. Renewable energy now represents 99 % of the company’s total energy production, and its scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity has decreased by over 98 % relative to 2006.
“Sustainability is a core part of Ørsted’s DNA, and I’m proud of this result. 2025 was the first year where no coal was used in our heat and power generation, and it marked the year when Ørsted’s green transformation was effectively complete. Thanks to the dedicated efforts across the business, we are helping to build a world that runs entirely on green energy – and the recognition from Corporate Knights is a testimony to that,” says Reumert.
The net-zero journey does not end here. Ørsted will continue to enhance sustainability across its business, tackling scope 3 emissions cost-effectively through a clear net-zero road map. As Ørsted delivers on its 8.1 GW construction pipeline and helps make offshore wind a cornerstone of Europe’s future energy mix and green transition, it will be done sustainably by lowering carbon emissions, enhancing nature, and benefitting local communities. With 18.5 GW of renewables installed and a historically large pipeline currently under construction, Ørsted is helping to build a secure, affordable, and green energy system.

About the Global 100 index
The Corporate Knights' Global 100 is an annual ranking of the world’s 100 most sustainable corporations across all sectors. This year, Corporate Knights has redesigned the methodology it uses to assess the sustainability performance of companies with revenues above USD 1 billion. To determine the 2026 ranking, Corporate Knights assessed global companies on three equally weighted metrics: sustainable investments, sustainable revenues (both defined under the Corporate Knights Sustainable Economy Taxonomy), and the sustainable revenue momentum score, tracking growth in sustainable revenue from 2022 to 2024.
