Oregon State Wrestling Dominates Cal Poly in Pac-12 Showdown

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 25-nationally ranked Oregon State wrestling team cruised past Cal Poly, 24-12, in a Pac-12 Conference dual meet on Sunday afternoon at Gill Coliseum. With the win, the Beavers improved to 4-1 this season and 2-0 in conference competition. Maximo Renteria, ranked 10th nationally at 125 pounds, started the meet with a 13-6 decision over No. 18 Koda Holeman. Renteria moved to 14-2 this season and 30-11 in his collegiate career. Gabe Whisenhunt, a redshirt junior from Corvallis, earned a 5-0 decision against Leo Macias at 133 pounds for his fifth win this season and 25th overall as a Beaver wrestler. No. 28 Nash Singleton, competing at 141 pounds, won his second consecutive match with an 11-2 major decision over Alek Vanbebber. Singlton improved to 11-6 this season and 33-28 in his career. Matthew Olguin, ranked No. 23 in the nation at 165 pounds, got Oregon State back on track with an 11-3 major decision against Luke Gayer. Olguin, a graduate student from Fresno, Calif., moved to 13-4 this season and 58-31 in his college career. No. 27 Daschle Lamer continued his outstanding season at 174 pounds, winning by technical fall, 17-2, at 6:20 over Cash Stewart to earn his 15th victory in his redshirt sophomore campaign with only two losses. Justin Rademacher, ranked sixth in the nation, continued his dominance this season at 197 pounds with a 21-6 technical fall at 4:55 over Cole Jackson. Rademacher is now 18-1 on the season and 32-11 in his career.
