Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Torch Relay: Preview of the 45th Stage from Schio to Padua

On Wednesday 21 January 2026, the Flame of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 will travel its 45th stage through historic cities, fortified architecture and landscapes that represent some of the most iconic places in the Veneto region. The day's programme The day will open at 9:50 a.m. in Schio, an industrial centre that in the 19th century became one of the most important wool centres in Italy thanks to the initiatives of the entrepreneur Alessandro Rossi, who also promoted the workers' village, one of the first Italian models of an organised industrial city. ​​At 11:25, the Flame will reach Bassano del Grappa, where the Ponte degli Alpini is located, a wooden structure whose original layout was designed by Andrea Palladio in 1569. In the afternoon, at 2:10 p.m., the relay will arrive in Montebelluna, a city recognised as the capital of Italian sports footwear and the historic home of the most important companies in the sector. ​​At 3:15 pm, the Flame will cross Castelfranco Veneto, a 12th-century walled city and the birthplace of Giorgione, before reaching Cittadella at 4:35 pm.., a walled city that is unique in its kind due to its elliptical medieval walls, built from the 13th century onwards and characterised by towers, fortified gates and battlements in an excellent state of preservation. The stage will culminate at 7.30 p.m. in Prato della Valle in Padua, one of the largest monumental squares in Europe. ​​The city is recognised by UNESCO for its 14th-century fresco cycles and is home to the historic Botanical Garden, the oldest university botanical garden in the world still in its original location. ​​In this context, during the city celebration, the brazier will be lit in the presence of 26 torchbearers, giving shape to the final moment of the day. During the day, the Flame will be accompanied by a dedicated convoy in two places of particular historical and landscape importance. Asiago, the main centre of the plateau of the same name and a place deeply linked to the memory of the First World War, and Asolo, defined by Giosuè Carducci as "the city of a hundred horizons", and included among the most beautiful villages in Italy.
