Benito Mining Empowers Numereso Youth with Free Skills Training

The initiative is designed to empower and equip the youth with practical vocational and technical skills, especially in the use and operation of heavy machines such as forklifts, and excavators, among others. Mr. Benjamin Oppong, Chief Executive Officer of the company, speaking at the event, emphasised the urgent need to provide opportunities for young people to gain hands-on skills that could lead to self-employment and sustainable livelihoods. He noted that many youth were eager to learn but were often hindered by financial challenges that prevented them from enrolling in formal training programmes. “The youth of our country are talented and willing to work hard, but lack of resources often stands in their way. This free skills training is an opportunity to change that narrative and equip our young people with marketable skills,” Mr. Oppong said. He explained that the programme was part of Benito Mining and Engineering Company’s broader commitment to youth empowerment, community development, and corporate social responsibility. Over the years, the company has initiated several social programmes in Numereso and its surrounding communities, including the reshaping of deplorable roads, providing support to the needy and vulnerable, and implementing projects aimed at improving the overall welfare of residents. Participants in the training are expected to complete the programme with practical skills that will enhance their employability and enable them to contribute meaningfully to national economic growth. Mr. Oppong also appealed to the government, corporate institutions, and philanthropic organizations to support similar initiatives, emphasizing that investing in youth skills development was critical step towards reducing unemployment and promoting sustainable development in the country. The free training programme at Numereso has drawn widespread interest from the youth in the Amansie Central District, with participants expressing excitement at the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in vocational and technical fields, while also witnessing the positive impact of the company’s ongoing social responsibility initiatives in their communities.
