NPP Ashanti Delegates Champion Dr Adutwum as 2028 Power Return Candidate

Some delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region have reaffirmed their strong support for presidential aspirant Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, describing him as the party’s formidable candidate to lead it back to power in the 2028 general elections. According to the delegates, presenting Dr Adutwum to Ghanaians would amount to the NPP putting its “best foot forward,” citing his extensive public service experience, proven leadership record, and appeal beyond the party’s traditional support base. They believe that among the aspirants seeking to lead the party into the 2028 polls, Dr Adutwum possesses the right blend of competence, character, and vision required to win a national election. The delegates made these remarks when the former Minister for Education took his Ashanti Region campaign tour to the Afigya Kwabre South and Kwabre East constituencies. They identified Dr Adutwum’s tenure as Education Minister as one of his strongest assets, crediting him with steady leadership in the sector, the implementation of key policy initiatives, and a demonstrated commitment to improving access, quality, and outcomes at all levels of education. In their view, his performance in office has earned him a reputation as a results-oriented leader who understands the needs and aspirations of ordinary Ghanaians. Beyond his achievements in government, the delegates also highlighted Dr Adutwum’s humility and calm disposition, qualities they described as increasingly important in Ghana’s political landscape. They portrayed him as approachable, respectful, and attentive to the concerns of both party members and the general public—attributes they believe would resonate with voters nationwide. The delegates further pointed to what they described as Dr Adutwum’s practical and forward-looking vision for national development. They said his ideas on education, human capital development, and economic transformation are achievable and aligned with the aspirations of Ghana’s youthful and growing population, with an emphasis on long-term progress rather than short-term political gains. Emphasising that the 2028 general elections will be highly competitive, the delegates stressed the need for the NPP to elect a flagbearer with broad national appeal and the ability to inspire confidence among floating voters. They argued that Dr Adutwum’s background, experience, and personal qualities make him best suited to meet that challenge and therefore appealed to delegates across the country to rally behind his candidature in the interest of party unity and electoral success. The delegates expressed confidence that a collective decision to support Dr Adutwum would significantly enhance the NPP’s chances of returning to power and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development.
