Nodus has released a new Sector Deep Pioneer dive watch featuring a green gradient dial and destro crown. The 38mm watch offers 500-meter water resistance, GMT functionality via a Seiko NH34 movement, and a unique bezel with dive and compass markings. It boasts extensive Super-LumiNova application and a sandblasted finish, highlighting the brand's value proposition in the microbrand market.
If you know me, you know that I love a green dial. So when the latest model from Los Angeles-based microbrand Nodus crossed my inbox, I knew I needed to take another look. For the first time in the collection, the Nodus Sector Deep Pioneer gets a gradient dial, in (my humble opinion) a gorgeous shade of green.
Nodus has always gotten points in my book for offering original concepts at price points that feel like they deliver quite a bit of value. And if you're a spec sheet kinda guy, the Sector Deep Pioneer offers that appeal in spades as a 500 meter water resistant dive watch. It feels like the most overbuilt watch in the brand's lineup, even though the specs arequite reasonable. Though the bezel overhang measures in at 42mm, the case width itself is a more compact 38mm. Paired with a thickness of 13.6mm and a lug-to-lug of 47mm. And, as with the other colors of the Sector Deep Pioneer, this one's destro (having its crown on the left side of the case).
In addition to its deep-dive capabilities, the Seiko NH34 movement inside lends the Sector Deep Pioneer its caller GMT functionality displayed through a broad, hollowed-out GMT hand on the dial. As the 24-hour scale is printed on the dial itself, the matte black DLC-coated bezel is freed up for two sets of markings: dive markings and compass directions, giving the watch all the bells and whistles a doomsday prepper might wish for. Though some might turn their heads at a humble NH34 these days, the movement is regulated by Nodus to a rating of +/- 10 seconds per day, giving it a leg up even amongst a sea of Miyota and Sellita options.
Super-LumiNova is found everywhere on the dial – the oversized handset, the applied indices, the printed GMT track, and even the numerals on the date disc (my favorite touch). Also fully lumed are the bezel markings for both the dive and compass sections, and even the markings on the DLC-coated screw-down crown. A fully sandblasted finish is applied to the case as well as the included steel bracelet, which also features Nodus' proprietary quick-adjust clasp.
Nodus continues to deliver novel watches at compelling price points, and this release underscores just how much value the brand brings to the microbrand space. The line leans heavily into rugged, tactical design cues, yet everything feels thoughtfully executed, both aesthetically and functionally. It's undeniably a busy watch, but the layout remains highly legible. Between the generous application of Super-LumiNova and the custom-regulated NH34 movement, Nodus makes a strong case for how far a dollar can stretch in today's microbrand market. At $625, this is a genuinely compelling buy.
