THE Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, is currently in the Republic of Singapore for an official two-day visit aimed at deepening diplomatic relations and exploring new areas of economic cooperation between Namibia and Singapore.
“During the visit, the Minister will have discussions with her host, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. The two Ministers will discuss strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation, bilateral trade, future areas of collaboration, as well as multilateral relations,” the Ministry of International Relations and Trade stated.
Ashipala-Musavyi is also scheduled to meet with Alvin Tan, Singapore’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry and National Development. According to the Ministry, these discussions will centre on trade and industrial matters. The Ministry also revealed that an engagement with Enterprise Singapore is planned, with a focus on supporting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, fostering partnerships within the agro-processing sector, and exploring energy-related cooperation.
“The Minister is also scheduled to meet with Mr. Ang Wee Keong, Chief Executive of the Maritime and Port Authority, to discuss port infrastructure and logistics,” the Ministry added.
Ashipala-Musavyi is accompanied by a technical delegation of senior officials from the Ministry of International Relations and Trade; the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform; the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy; as well as the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and the Namibia Ports Authority (NAMPORT).
