Child Critical After Car Strikes Pedestrians in Melbourne

A four-year-old is fighting for life after a car hit pedestrians crossing the road in Melbourne's west. Police believe a car struck two pedestrians crossing the road at the intersection of Synnot Street and Wedge Street South in Werribee just after 11am. A four-year-old girl was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 35-year-old female was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other pedestrians who were also crossing the road at the time were not injured. The driver of the car, a 58-year-old woman, was not injured and stopped at the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established and the investigation is ongoing.
