Marc Guehi Sets Clear Target, Praises 3 Key Man City Players

Marc Guehi namechecks three Man City players as he sets out clear target - 'big brother' Manchester City completed the signing of Marc Guehi on Monday and he has been speaking about his new team-mates There will be more than a few familiar faces around Manchester City for Marc Guehi when he trains with his new team-mates later this week. The Blues new boy sealed his £20million switch from Crystal Palace on Monday but cannot join up with City in Norway for tonight's Champions League tie with Bodo/Glimt as January signings cannot be added to the Champions League squads until after the window is closed. Guehi will therefore have to wait to train with his new team-mates ahead of a potential debut against Wolves on Saturday. But, having played with several of the City players on the international stage with England, he is expecting to adapt quickly to his new surroundings. And, in his first interview upon signing, he referenced three new team-mates as players who can help on and off the pitch as Guehi and City seek a strong second half of the season and silverware. "There are so many players that have played at such a high level and won so many things. There are so many exciting, young players as well that have come into the squad and want to do their best. "With the arrival of Antoine [Semenyo] who is an amazing player and he’s proven himself in the Premier League - it’s fantastic and I just want to come in and help and just do my part, be one of the lads and just try to improve.” Guehi has forged a close bond with Phil Foden and John Stones during their time together in England camps. The latter is set to leave the Etihad in the summer when his contract expires and Guehi is essentially his City replacement, but the new boy was quick to point out the role Stones has played in his development. “John has taken me under his wing - especially within the national team.," said Guehi. "I see him as a big brother to be honest. He’s someone that has looked out for me - especially playing with him at the last Euros - it was amazing. "He just makes your life easier because of his understanding of the game and how good he is. But the person too - such a down-to-earth guy, especially with all that he has achieved. An amazing person to be around and I’m really delighted to be playing with him.” On Foden, Guehi added: "Phil is amazing - I could go on and on about him. First and foremost, just him as a person before the football - he’s amazing. "He’s someone that has an inner child in him - he just wants to play and enjoy life. He’s always been like that. He’s never changed. It’s an honour for me to play with him. As a footballer, he’s second to none, has natural ability, a winner, obsessed. I’m really glad to play with him on a consistent basis now."
