Marathon South African Pricing Revealed: R699 Across PC & Consoles

Marathon pre-orders are open ahead of the 5th March launch. The game is priced at R699 locally. PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will receive the game. Marathon – the upcoming extraction shooter that is both developed and published by the venerable Bungie – has announced its 5th March release date and opened up pre-orders across the big platforms. PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S owners will be able to play the game when it launches. In the US, Marathon is priced at $40 for its Standard Edition and $60 for its Deluxe Edition, which at the time of writing, converts to around R657 and R987 respectively – though just remember that American pricing does not include sales tax. Here in South Africa (including tax), the Standard Edition costs R699, while the Deluxe Edition will be R1 049. In a rare case of platform parity, all three online stores are charging the same price, so there’s no difference when it comes between choosing between the consoles and PC. The Deluxe Edition includes a voucher for the Premium Rewards Pass, 200 of the “SILK Rewards Pass Tokens” currency, two “MIDNIGHT DECAY” weapon skins and four “MIDNIGHT DECAY” player character cosmetics. The MIDNIGHT DECAY cosmetics, which you can see here, combine a dark digital camo with random blue paint sploshes and neon green highlights. We’ll have to wait for launch to determine if these items are worth the extra R350 to upgrade your version of the game. A new trailer has been released alongside these recent announcements which ends by showing off yet another way you can give Bungie more money in the form of the Collector’s Edition. You don’t get access to Marathon inside of the box, but instead it will be emailed to you. Right at the top of the product page it says that “The Marathon Collector’s Edition – No Game Code does NOT contain a physical disc or digital copy of the game” but, if you scroll down, you will find text that adding “Digital Products delivered via email after purchase starting January 20th, 2026: Marathon Deluxe Edition”. That little bit of confusion aside, South Africans will not be able to get this locally as it’s reserved for the US, the UK, the EU, Canada and Australia.
