Mace Contracting Name Disappears in UK Industry Shift

Mace Group has confirmed its construction arm – currently trading as Mace Construct – will be renamed later this year, drawing a clear line between its UK contracting business and its consultancy operation. The move follows last year’s agreement for a majority private equity investment in Mace Consult by Goldman Sachs Alternatives. Once that deal completes, Consult will continue independently under the Mace name. That leaves the UK contractor heading into 2026 without the Mace badge it has operated under for decades. While both businesses will temporarily continue to trade as Mace Construct and Mace Consult, the group has confirmed the contracting arm will adopt a completely new name and identity, signalling a strategic reset focused squarely on UK construction delivery and growth. The contractor has grown into the UK’s sixth-largest builder and the second-largest privately owned firm, delivering flagship schemes including The Shard and Battersea Power Station. The rebrand is intended to reflect its heritage while setting a new course for the future. Jason Millett said the change would allow the UK contracting business to define a bold new identity, while Consult – led by Davendra Dabasia – builds globally on the Mace name. He said: “Since we were founded in 1990, Mace has continued to evolve as we’ve grown; from a boutique consultancy to the leading London contractor, and now to one of the globe’s foremost programme and project managers. “Here in the UK, we believe there is an opportunity for Mace Construct to evolve once again, adopting a new name and identity that leverages our established relationships and reputation for construction delivery.”
