M1 Motorway Shut Following Major Crash: Air Ambulance Called

A MAJOR UK motorway has shut in both directions following a horror crash. Motorists are facing delays of half an hour on the M1 in South Yorkshire following the collision between junction 33 and junction 32 for the M18 Interchange in Sheffield. It comes after the M62 in West Yorkshire near Huddersfield was shut down after equipment which was brought in to perform roadwords broke down. The incident sparked delays of over an hour. National Highways said: “Following overnight roadworks and broken down plant machinery, the M62 westbound is closed within Junction 24 (Huddersfield) until recovery is completed. “Traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads.” Elsewhere, the M1 looks set shut in both directions for two entire weekends later this month – sparking chaos for 100,000s of drivers. Elsewhere, the A30 eastbound has been closed between the M25 J13 and A308 at Staines following a horror crash. The closures will take place from 9pm on Friday, January 30 until 6am Monday February 2 and then again later in the month. The second weekend of closures will hit from 9pm Friday, February 13 until 6am Monday, February 16. As part of the M3 junction nine improvement project, routes affected will include the M3, A34, and A33. The M3 will be closed in both directions between junctions eight and nine as steel beams are installed for new roundabout bridge decks.
