TV3 Reveals Recent Arrests in Latvia's Pro-Russia Network

The arrests are based on documents that have come into the possession of the "Dossier Center" organization of Kremlin opposition figure Mikhail Khodorkovsky, which were seen by the programme. The materials suggest that the "Baltic Anti-Fascists" organization is not just a group of Russia fans, but are also trying to infiltrate drone factories in Latvia, collect information about the movement of military equipment, and gather information about who donates to Ukraine or displays Ukrainian symbols. An association of individuals calling themselves "Baltic Anti-Fascists" began to develop and coordinate actions against Latvia's national security using specially created communication groups on the messaging platform "Telegram", according to the State Security Service (VDD). The VDD initiated criminal proceedings against this group in November 2022 and two members – Tatjana Andrijeca and Aleksandrs Žguns – are currently on trial in Latvia. Others have fled to Russia or Belarus. In 2023 it was officially named a criminal organization by the VDD. Prosecutor Zane Lodziņa told "Nothing personal" that the main goal of the criminal group was to gather as many fellow-travellers as possible so that, while waiting for the right moment, they would have the opportunity to create disorder and destabilize the situation. TV3 gave details of several individuals it said had participated int he activities of the group. Meanwhile the VDD said that it has initiated criminal proceedings on suspected espionage, and has detained several people this month in connection with its ongoing investigation.
