Keir Starmer's Popularity Plummets to Record Low in Latest Poll

Sir Keir Starmer's popularity has hit a grim low, new polling shows. Three-quarters of Britons now have an unfavourable opinion of the Prime Minister, according to YouGov's tracker. This is up three points from last month, when 72% had a negative view of Sir Keir. Just 18% see him in a positive light, giving him a net score of -57. It marks his worst rating to date and equals his predecessor Rishi Sunak's lowest point as prime minister. Tensions with Wes Streeting erupted once again over the weekend amid reports Cabinet ministers are urging the Prime Minister to sack his Health Secretary. Mr Streeting has found himself the target of a briefing war from within Downing Street over his perceived ambitions to succeed Sir Keir in 10 Downing Street. Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT A spokesperson for the Health Secretary branded the timing of the latest briefing against him as "incredibly stupid", as it broke while Reform and the Conservatives were rowing over defections. The YouGov poll gave Tory leader Kemi Badenoch a net popularity rating of -26, unchanged from December. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who poached two Conservative MPs last week, is down two points to -37. Green leader Zack Polanski has a net rating of -7, while Lib Dem Sir Ed Davey is on minus -9 – but they benefit from having a large number of respondents who said they did not know them, so did not have a favourable or unfavourable opinion.
