Keetmanshoop Crime Spree: Three Suspects Face Court

Three suspects aged 16, 17, and 31 appeared in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing multiple charges following a series of criminal activities in the early hours of Saturday. The charges leveled against the group include conspiracy to commit a crime, motor vehicle theft, housebreaking with intent to steal, and reckless or negligent driving. The suspects allegedly first broke into a residence in the Krönlein neighbourhood and stole a microwave. Preliminary investigations indicate that they then gained access to the complainant’s Toyota bakkie, using the vehicle to flee the scene with the stolen appliance. According to the weekend crime report, the group drove to the Noordhoek neighbourhood and engaged in reckless driving on a gravel road. At some point the vehicle was spun and nearly overturned. The two younger suspects then fled the scene on foot. The 31-year-old suspect allegedly continued to drive recklessly toward the Keetmanshoop-Aroab gravel road. The pursuit ended approximately four kilometres outside Keetmanshoop when the vehicle overturned. Responding police officers discovered the injured driver at the scene, and he was transported by ambulance to Keetmanshoop Hospital. The two teenage suspects were later traced and taken into custody by local authorities. Police investigations continue.
