Staff Reporter MINISTER of Defence and Veterans Affairs Frans Kapofi visited the Onambutu traditional homestead of the late Mathias Kanana Hishoono to offer condolences to the bereaved family and to reflect on the life of a man remembered for his unwavering commitment to the liberation of Namibia and the unity of its people. Kapofi was accompanied by Ohangwena Regional Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa. Members of the community, political, traditional and religious leaders, as well as veterans of the liberation struggle from all corners of the country, continue to flock to late Hishoono’s Onambutu homestead, where a book of condolences was officially opened for mourners to pay their respects. The ex-secretary of the SWAPO Party Elders Council and former political adviser to Founding President Sam Nujoma passed away at Ondangwa on the 14th of January at the age of 94. Two memorial services will take place at the Onambutu homestead on Wednesday and Friday respectively, while the burial service will be held at the Eenhana Memorial Shrine on Saturday.
