Ja Morant's Powerful Message During Grizzlies' London Return

The Memphis Grizzlies season has not gone according to plan. After firing Taylor Jenkins late last season, they promoted Tuomas lisalo to become the head coach. Memphis has been making plenty of headlines off the court, and currently sit with a losing record. Playing in the NBA’s Global Games was a good chance for them to get some spotlight and try to showcase some positive things. They played the Orlando Magic in Berlin Germany on Thursday, and London, England on Sunday. What followed was a split of the two games, including a tight finish that featured an all-time poster dunk from Anthony Black to complete Orlando’s big comeback for a win. And then in the second contest in London, Memphis raced out to a 32-point lead, ultimately coming away with a 17-point win. The biggest part of that, was Ja Morant making his return. He sent a clear message to the rest of the league with his performance. More to come in the next section. Ja Morant Makes Triumphant Return Injuries have plagued the Grizzlies all season. Zach Edey has been limited to just 11 games. Brandon Clarke has suffered two significant injuries. Scotty Pippen Jr. was fantastic a season ago, and is still yet to debut. Ty Jerome, one of the prized offseason signings from the Cleveland Cavaliers is still weeks away from his season debut. But, after being without him for six straight games, Memphis finally got Ja Morant back on the court. It didn’t take him much time to make an impact, finishing with a first-half double-double without any turnovers. Morant had an efficient 20 points and 10 assists in the game’s first 24 minutes in his first game since January 2. Morant sent a clear message to the rest of the league with this effort. He’s showing that he clearly still has it. Through all the trade rumors and talk of his game not being what it was before, he put a 24-5-13 line in under 30 minutes in a double-digit win. This should absolutely get people talking about the potential, rather than anything else. Memphis is tied with the Clippers for the final play-in spot as of the end of action on January 18th, and have a lot of work to do if they want to qualify for the postseason. But, a win like this with Morant back on the floor certainly helped Morale. Grizzlies Looking to String Wins Together The good news for the Grizzlies is that they will have a few more days off after returning to the US before taking the floor again on Wednesday. This week, they will play three games, with a day in between each of them. They will battle the struggling Atlanta Hawks at home on Wednesday night. On Friday, they will welcome the limping New Orleans Pelicans to town, hoping to claim a win against the young squad. Sunday should be the most interesting game on the slate. They are set to battle the Denver Nuggets, who may have Nikola Jokic back in the lineup in time for the game. The other good news for this team is the time they had to bond with one another internationally. The Cleveland Cavaliers were able to show off their team chemistry in Paris two seasons ago. Hopefully for Memphis, they were able to enjoy this time together, doing off-court activities and learning more about their teammates. The season rolls right along, and as long as they have Ja Morant out there, they’ll be must-see.
