India Sedan Sales in December 2025: Dzire Dominates Market

Sedan sales in India stood at 31,985 units in December 2025, registering a 2.91 percent year-on-year growth compared to December 2024. However, on a month-on-month basis, the segment witnessed an 8.72 percent decline over November 2025, indicating softer demand toward the end of the year. Sedan Sales Dec 2025 Maruti Dzire remained the undisputed leader in the sedan space, clocking 19,072 units in December 2025. This translated into a 15.08 percent YoY growth, though sales were down 9.53 percent MoM. Dzire alone accounted for well over half of total sedan volumes, underlining its continued mass-market appeal. Hyundai Aura emerged as the second-highest selling sedan with 4,925 units, posting a healthy 27.86 percent YoY growth. Like Dzire, Aura also saw a 14.06 percent MoM decline, reflecting the overall market slowdown in December. In contrast, Honda Amaze recorded 2,575 units, down 30.56 percent YoY and 6.80 percent MoM, making it one of the weaker performers in the compact sedan category. Mid-size sedans show varied trends Among mid-size sedans, Volkswagen Virtus reported 2,378 units, up 5.36 percent YoY and 6.88 percent MoM, making it one of the few models to grow on both counts. Honda City posted 943 units, registering a strong 20.43 percent YoY growth and an even sharper 55.87 percent MoM increase, indicating improved demand compared to November. On the other hand, Skoda Slavia saw a steep drop to 711 units, declining 62.46 percent YoY and 36.52 percent MoM. Hyundai Verna also struggled, with 406 units, down 53.44 percent YoY and 42.74 percent MoM. Entry EV sedans and premium models Tata Tigor / EV recorded 775 units, falling 26.47 percent YoY but showing a strong 58.81 percent MoM growth, aided by a low base in November. In the premium segment, Toyota Camry sold 200 units, more than doubling its volumes with a 127.27 percent YoY growth, though sales dipped 9.91 percent MoM. Skoda Octavia reported zero dispatches in December 2025, compared to 94 units in November.
