Honor Magic8 Pro Air: trying for a thin phone without drawbacks Launched in Zhuhai city (Guangdong, Mainland China), the Honor Magic8 Pro Air clocks in at just 155g and 6.1mm, while boasting a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. That makes the phone lighter than Apple’s and Samsung’s equivalents, but it’s not the thinnest among the three, and the Honor version also has the smallest panel. In return, the thicker Magic8 Pro Air grants a bunch of added durability and usability perks. Honor said it uses an aerospace-grade aluminium unibody frame that resists bending, its proprietary Honor Giant Rhino Glass (transliterated) to resist cracks, as well as a five-star SGS certification against drops, on top of dual IP68 and IP69 resistance against water and dust. The standout component is the battery. Being a hair thicker than its rivals allowed the Honor Magic8 Pro Air to fit in a “Qinghai Lake” battery (not silicon-carbon!). Honor said it addresses an “industry curse” where consumers have been led to believe that thin phones have short battery lives. Another remarkable component lies in the rear. Despite its reduced profile, Honor managed to have triple rear cameras (50MP main, 50MP ultrawide, 64MP periscope telephoto with 3.2x zoom optical zoom). For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge only has two (main and ultrawide) while the iPhone Air carries merely one main camera, both of which lacking a dedicated telephoto for optical zoom. Finally, it can support dual SIM and dual eSIM, in a world where some super-slim phones have eschewed physical SIM cards in favour of form factors.
