Government Boosts Health Systems Through National-County Collaboration

The government has reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to working with county governments and partners to improve health system efficiency and expand access to quality healthcare services nationwide. Speaking during a consultative meeting bringing together the Council of Governors (CoG), led by Chief Executive Officer Mary Mwiti, and the National Equipment Support Programme (NESP) Committee at Afya House, the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga underscored the importance of close collaboration between the national and county governments. He noted that the coordinated action is essential for the optimal utilisation of health equipment and for accelerating progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The engagement reviewed progress in the implementation of the National Equipment Support Programme, examined emerging challenges, and identified opportunities to strengthen service delivery across counties.
