Ghana NACOC Strengthens Operations with New ICT Tools from Ministry & GIFEC

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has strengthened the operational capacity of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) by providing computers and related accessories, in partnership with the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC). On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), handed over 10 laptops and 10 desktop computers to NACOC following a formal request from the Commission. The intervention is part of the Government’s broader initiative to equip state institutions with the digital tools necessary to enhance efficiency and service delivery. In his remarks, Minister George emphasized the Government’s commitment to supporting state agencies with essential technology, assuring that the equipment would improve NACOC’s operations and strengthen its ability to execute its mandate. He noted that the presentation represented the beginning of ongoing support, rather than a one-time contribution. The Minister also expressed gratitude to the Administrator of GIFEC, Mr. Sofo Tanko Rashid-Computer, and his team for facilitating the deployment of the computers despite limited availability. Receiving the equipment on behalf of NACOC, Director-General Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, thanked the Ministry and GIFEC for the timely support. He highlighted that the computers would significantly enhance staff productivity and operational effectiveness, ensuring the Commission continues to tackle illicit drug trafficking and related crimes effectively. Brigadier General Mantey also praised the responsiveness of the Ministry and GIFEC, calling for continued collaboration among state institutions to further national security, good governance, and service delivery across the country.
