Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Strengthen Shared Gaming Safety Principles

Bond said in a LinkedIn post that Xbox is continuing to work with PlayStation and Nintendo to strengthen player safety across their gaming platforms, as the three companies evolve a joint framework first announced five years ago. In the post, Bond framed the update as an extension of long-running collaboration rather than a reset, writing that the companies have “continued to invest and adapt, strengthening our efforts to foster a safer, more inclusive gaming community.” Xbox is Microsoft’s gaming business, operating across console, PC, and cloud-based services, with a global player base that spans adults and younger players. Continued cross-platform alignment Bond used LinkedIn to underline the shared nature of the work, stating that “gaming is for everyone” and that Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo remain “committed to making our communities safe and welcoming for all players.” She also emphasized continuity with the original agreement, noting that the collaboration dates back to 2020 and has evolved alongside changes in technology, player behavior, and online risk. The shared commitment was first announced in 2020, bringing together the three major console platform holders around a common set of online safety principles. Since then, the companies say they have refined their approach to reflect new safety tools, deeper coordination, and greater engagement with external partners. According to Xbox, the updated principles focus on prevention, partnerships, and responsibility, including clearer controls for players and parents, stronger collaboration with industry bodies and regulators, and clearer enforcement and reporting processes. The framework also references coordination with ratings bodies such as ESRB and PEGI.
