Samsung's Galaxy Book 6 Pro: Panther Lake Price Jumps Significantly

It's clear that Samsung wants higher profits due to higher DRAM costs, but a nearly $500 price hike is just too much. Samsung has listed six different models in the Book 6 series, two of them boasting the NVIDIA RTX 50 series GPUs, such as RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Laptop cards. The other four are under the Book 6 Pro series, featuring Xe3-based Arc graphics, found on the Panther Lake chips. On the same page, we can see Samsung comparing two laptop models, one from the previous-gen Galaxy Book 5 pro and one from the new series. Since the new model, "NT960XJG-KD72G",is a direct successor to the "NT960XHA-KD72G" model with Intel's Lunar Lake Core Ultra 7 Series 2 processor, one can expect some differences in cost as the new model features a higher core-count chip. There are some more upgrades here and there, but those are mostly minor. The memory remains the same at 32 GB LPDDR5X, and the storage is also 1 TB. However, if you check the price differences between the two, you will see a significant hike in the cost of the new model. The Galaxy Book 5 Pro was launched at 2,808,000 Won or US$1904, the new Galaxy Book 6 Pro is priced at 3,510,000 Won or US$2381. This is a nearly $477 price hike over the previous model, which just can't come from the processor upgrade. It's interesting to see that Samsung is one of the three major memory makers and also produces NAND flash memory. Despite this, it has chosen to pass the inflated costs on to customers to protect higher margins. This is clear when you check the price differences between the Galaxy Book 4 Pro and Book 5 Pro, as there was almost no hike.
