New concept art for the Fable reboot reveals stunning locations in Albion. Featured are iterations of a city named Bloodstone, a callback to Fable II, a sewer confrontation with a werewolf, and a swamp village called Hamlet. These images offer a glimpse into the fantasy world ahead of an upcoming Xbox Direct presentation.
As we approach a new Xbox Direct in just a few days, we are inching closer to a fresh look at the long-awaited Fable reboot. This is a given, as we know that Playground Games will be present at the event, showcasing the fantasy title alongside Forza Horizon 6. The last time we saw the game was in February of last year, featuring a glimpse of pre-alpha gameplay and the announcement of a delay to this year.
But as is tradition, we are happy to say that we can please the more anxious fans, as we’ve recently gained access to several pieces of concept art revealing gorgeous locations within the massive world of Albion, including the comeback of a classic location seen in Fable II. So, if you want to scratch the itch for more details (or want a really pretty new wallpaper), you are in for a treat.

New Look at the World and Elements of Fable
These images originate from the portfolio of an artist who previously worked on the title. In them, we can see a wide variety of artistic explorations covering important locations and key game elements.
In the first batch of images, we see a few iterations of the same concept: the protagonist looking out over the horizon at a massive city. Most importantly, a sign in one of these iterations suggests this location is named Bloodstone. Avid fans of the series will remember this name as the port town in Fable II known for harboring criminals, so it looks like we are bound to see a new iteration of that location in this reboot.
Another key scene we can spot is the protagonist traveling through the sewers, where she prepares to fight inside the den of a giant werewolf, a confrontation that has appeared repeatedly in the trailers.
We can also see several shots set in a swamp village, and according to the filenames, this location is called ‘Hamlet’, which appears to host the protagonist’s home. Interestingly, two versions of this setting are visible: a standard version and another described as the aftermath of a flood. This flood definitely has the potential to be a key plot element, perhaps even linked to the female antagonist seen at the end of one of the trailers. But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Now, going back to Bloodstone, you will notice a few illustrations depicting the entrance of a castle nestled between mountains, which seemingly is the entry point to this location. There are also layouts revealing the structure of Bloodstone, depicting different zones such as a market district, an arena, an artisan area, a “Pub Island,” and a path that could be leading towards a character named Jacobs.
Other uncolored images show off the aforementioned market district, where we can spot a few storefronts, such as a fishmonger and a shop named “The Phoenix Feather.”
In the last illustration, we can see several explorations of different chests that we’ll be able to loot, which includes a nice detail since one of the art references used is actually one of the original chests from the first title.
However, the details seen here should be treated as subject to change, as we have not been able to confirm the origin dates of these illustrations, and they could belong to early conceptualizations of the game.
With the upcoming presentation described as a “first extended look at Fable,” a possible release window may finally be around the corner. Development on the game was first reported around early 2018, so after 8 years of development, we are hopefully on the verge of finally experiencing the next chapter on the series.
