Everton Suffers Major Jack Grealish Injury Setback

Jack Grealish is due to see a specialist after suffering a foot injury. The 30-year-old, who played an important role in Everton’s 1-0 win at his former club Aston Villa on Sunday, appears set for a spell on the sidelines. However, the severity of his problem is not yet known. Grealish is currently being treated by the club’s medical staff as they await an expert opinion on the issue. His absence will come as a major blow to David Moyes, who was just starting to look forward to the return of a host of key players following a winter dominated by selection issues. Grealish has been a talismanic figure for the Blues, scoring emotional match winners against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth and providing a number of assists, including two in the first game at the club’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium as Everton started life on the Liverpool waterfront with a win against Brighton & Hove Albion. Illness and suspension have impacted the Manchester City loanee's availability since Christmas but he still recorded two assists against Brentford and played well at Villa Park. Grealish’s absence comes with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Jarrad Branthwaite, Tim Iroegbunam and Carlos Alcaraz all making their way back from injuries and with Michael Keane still suspended for the upcoming home game with Leeds United on Monday night. Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye could return for that match following their Africa Cup of Nations success with Senegal, though the date they will return to Finch Farm is yet to be confirmed.
