Zebaldt Ngaruka OKATUUO – Epukiro Secondary School (ESS) continues to receive complimentary messages for its attainment of fourth position in the grade 12 results at the national level. The Post 3-based school’s 63 learners who wrote the grade 12 examination last year all qualify for tertiary education. Leading the congratulatory message pack is the Omaheke governor Pijoo Nganate, who said the remarkable achievement, together with the commendable performance of other schools in the region, reflects the dedication and hard work of the government, the education directorate, school leadership, educators, learners, parents, political leadership, traditional authorities, school boards and communities in advancing academic excellence. “Together, we raise and achieve. May this achievement inspire us toward greater success and continued commitment to quality education in the Omaheke region,” said Nganate. Peka Semba, the chief regional officer, said the excellent performance of ESS is a culmination of boldness, vision and teamwork. “Mr Uanivi brought in cohesion in the day-to-day running of the school. He and his team literally slept at school. One would say he is a smart manager but not a hard task manager,” said Semba, who was also the region’s education director at some point. He praised the principal, management, school board and regional management. Ovambanderu Traditional Authority (OTA) Chief Tjozohongo II Nguvauva said the ESS results in grade 12 are a remarkable milestone for the community and for rural education in Namibia. “We honour the principal, school board, dedicated teachers, supportive parents and brilliant learners, whose determination and excellence have brought this proud achievement to Epukiro and the entire Omaheke region. Your hard work stands as a testament to what can be achieved when a community remains united and committed, not only by tradition but by collaboration and shared purpose,” Nguvauva said. He informed New Era that his administration’s various desks prioritise the education of the Namibian child. He added that the OTA will work with all stakeholders countrywide to support the education sector. “From our roots in Epukiro to national standing on achievement, we rise together, stronger and prouder,” he stated. Chief Turimuro Hoveka of the Hoveka Traditional Authority also complimented the school on its achievement. “I am grateful for this achievement, and I have to thank the traditional leaders and community participation in the school’s events. I was at the prize-giving ceremony last year, and the spirit there was remarkable. That has contributed to this glory,” he shared. OTA’s councillor Vetiraije Rata Katjaimo said, “I am very proud of this achievement. Education is the greatest equaliser. this school needs to be commended for this achievement”. Katjaimo urged Epukiro inhabitants to partake in the educational activities for learners. “We have to assist the school where we can and reap the fruits together. It should be the responsibility of every leader to monitor the suspicious movements of learners between villages during close weekends,” he remarked.
