Dune Part Three Release Date Set: December 18, 2026 Amidst Box Office Clash

Right now, December 18th 2026 is looking like the single biggest day on the movie calendar this year as both Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday” and Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Dune: Part Three” will release that day. Currently being dubbed ‘Dunesday’ by not just the internet but the leading men of each picture (Robert Downey Jr. and Timothee Chalamet), many are wondering if one of these films will blink and move. Warners did lock in that date first for “Dune: Part Three” and now long-time box-office analysts EmpireCityBoxOffice have made it clear that Warners ain’t moving. They indicate Denis Villeneuve-directed “Dune” film has exclusively claimed all IMAX screens for three consecutive weeks, something they won’t be able to repeat for months. The one possible nearby release window that was looking thin – early November – was quickly filled in the other week with J.J. Abrams’ “The Great Beyond” and “Godzilla Minus Zero”. The deal means that there will be no IMAX screens available for “Avengers: Doomsday” – at least for its first few weeks. “Dune: Part Three” shot major sequences with IMAX cameras, whereas ‘Doomsday’ doesn’t appear to have used them at all.
