Parliament Session Interrupted: Deputy Ministers Reprimanded for Chatting

KUALA LUMPUR: Two deputy ministers were told off by Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor for having a chat while the Parliament session was ongoing. It started when Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was giving his answer regarding a question on the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS). During that time, Ramli saw two deputy ministers, including Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, talking in the House. "To the deputy minister and the deputy housing and local government minister, are you having a meeting too in this House? "Do you feel that the Cabinet has been satisfied? So, please pay attention. The minister is answering, take note," said Ramli during Question Time in Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 21). Saifuddin then proceeded to answer his question on AKPS, which was asked by Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (Perikatan-Kota Bharu), on how the Home Ministry would strengthen AKPS to ensure that borders remain protected. Later after lunch, Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul presided over the session and said he received a note from Deputy Education Ministry Minister Wong Kah Woh, saying that he was not present. Wong then stood up and said he was not present, as he only came in during the Special Chambers session that took place after lunch. "Therefore, he (Wong) is not among those involved," Johari clarified. The ongoing Parliament session, which began on Monday (Jan 19) will take place until March 3.
