Deme Community Leaders Champion Unity and a New School

Community leaders of Deme, a farming community in the Agave Traditional Area of South Tongu, have appealed to citizens at home and abroad to support ongoing unity efforts and help establish a long-overdue basic school. Speaking at a community forum, Mr. Sampson Dzukey, Secretary to the Anyigbeyia Clan, stressed that children currently walk over an hour to schools in Adutor or Dabala, facing risks along busy roads. He noted that the lack of amenities—including a school, health post, and good access roads—continues to hinder development. The forum, organized by Tator Agbo III, Head of the Anyigbeyia Clan, also educated the youth on their lineage, land boundaries, and investment potential of the area. Leaders announced plans to establish a Lands Secretariat to regulate land sales and attract investors for farming and development projects that could create jobs for the youth. Mr. Dzukey urged young people to take advantage of government programmes in agriculture, the community’s mainstay. Tator Agbo III emphasized unity as the foundation for peace and progress, assuring residents of his open-door leadership. Togbe Afianu II of Dabala, who attended the meeting, encouraged citizens to rally behind the unity agenda and support development initiatives, stressing that collective effort is key to achieving the community’s vision.
