David Beckham Breaks Silence on Son Brooklyn's Accusations

The Beckham family drama has finally come to a head with David Beckham speaking out after son Brooklyn dismissed the possibility of reconciling with the soccer star and mum Victoria Beckham, who he claims “have been trying to endlessly ruin [his] relationship” to wife Nicola Peltz Beckham. The 50-year-old retired soccer star on Tuesday appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box, during which he discussed the potential “dangerous” impacts of social media on mental health, and seemed to nod to his 26-year-old son’s statement. “What I’ve found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it for the right reasons. I’ve been able to use my platform and my following for UNICEF,” said Beckham, an ambassador for the UN agency. “I’ve tried to do the same with my children, to educate them. They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn. So that’s what I try to teach my kids. So you have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well.” On Monday, Brooklyn — the eldest of four siblings, including Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14 — told his 16.5 million followers, via his Instagram Story, that he did “not want to reconcile with my family.” “The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life,” said Brooklyn, pointing to the “the lengths [his parents will] go through … to preserve their own facade.” He claimed, “Brand Beckham comes first.” Brooklyn accused his parents of “trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped.” Among those alleged attempts were when Victoria stopped making his bride-to-be’s dress “in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress” ahead of their 2022 nuptials. Brooklyn also claimed that Victoria “hijacked my first dance with my wife,” the 31-year-old daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz, and “danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone.” “Since the moment I started standing up for myself with my family, I’ve received endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders,” said Brooklyn, who renewed his vows last summer. “My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one. … My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation.
