Homes Evacuated Following Counter-Terror Raid in Bristol

A number of homes have been evacuated after a "suspicious item" was found during the arrest of a terror suspect. A 21-year-old man was detained on suspicion of attempting to join the Islamic State group, also known as Daesh, in the Horfield area of Bristol on Tuesday. He remains in police custody. Avon and Somerset Police said the suspicious item was found during a search of a residential property in Francombe Grove and a cordon had been put in place while the object was assessed. Close neighbours have been asked to leave their properties as a precaution, the force added.
