Cobalt Launches Two-Way Microsoft Teams Pentesting Tool on Marketplace

Cobalt has listed its Microsoft Teams integration on Microsoft Marketplace, giving customers another route to deploy the company's penetration testing collaboration tools inside Teams. The integration sits within the Cobalt Offensive Security Platform. It adds a two-way connection between Cobalt's penetration testers and customer teams via Microsoft Teams channels. Cobalt said the integration links penetration testers, customers, and technical project managers in the same Teams environment that organisations already use for internal communications. The company positions the listing as part of a wider approach that also includes a Slack integration. Marketplace listing Microsoft Marketplace acts as a catalogue for cloud software, AI applications, and agents that work with Microsoft products. Vendors use it to distribute add-ons and integrations that customers can deploy and manage in Microsoft environments. Cobalt's Teams integration now appears alongside other security and IT tools sold through Microsoft's commercial ecosystem. The company said customers can discover and deploy the integration through the Marketplace and manage it across Microsoft Teams. The product focuses on collaboration around penetration testing work. Cobalt said it delivers penetration test findings through collaboration channels such as Microsoft Teams, rather than waiting for a final report. Two-way messaging The Teams integration supports bi-directional communication, according to Cobalt. That approach differs from setups that keep customer communications inside a separate portal. The company said the integration sends notifications into Teams and allows discussion about issues as they arise. It also provides visibility into the progress of a penetration testing engagement, based on the description in the announcement. Microsoft Teams has more than 320 million monthly active users and more than 90% adoption among Fortune 100 companies, Cobalt said. That footprint makes Teams a common venue for security teams and developers to share updates. "Most other PTaaS providers can only offer a one-way communication channel through their own portal, but the Cobalt Microsoft Teams integration provides a seamless and efficient way for both pentesters and customers to manage engagements directly within their existing toolset without context-switching," said Deepak Dalvi, Head of Product, Cobalt. Dalvi also commented on remediation timelines. He said, "This leads to faster remediation, as teams are quickly alerted to findings in their system of communication, and can act on them immediately after discovery." Operational workflow Cobalt described several functions for the integration. It includes real-time notifications for new findings, status updates, and comments. It also supports direct conversations between penetration testers and customer security teams within Teams channels. The company said the integration increases transparency by giving immediate visibility into penetration test progress and vulnerability details. It also links that communications model with accelerated remediation cycles through faster feedback between testers and customer teams. Cobalt framed the integration as a way to keep work inside existing processes. It said Teams communications can sit alongside other operational conversations rather than forcing staff to switch tools during an engagement. Pentesting model Cobalt operates a penetration testing as a service model. The company said customers can tap into the Cobalt Core pentester community, which it described as more than 500 security experts. It also said customers can launch an "expert-led pentest" in as little as 24 hours. The company characterised its services as fast, scalable, and reliable. The integration aligns with a wider trend in security operations, where vendors deliver alerts and findings into the tools that development, IT, and security teams already use. In many organisations, collaboration platforms such as Teams or Slack act as the front line for triage discussions and task assignment. Cobalt said its Slack integration served as a precedent for the Teams addition. The company said the Teams release mirrors the success of the Slack offering and extends communications choice during engagements. Cobalt said it will continue to expand collaboration tool integrations as part of its product direction.
