Catamounts Compete Against UConn: Clark Shines in Dual Meet

STORRS, Conn. – Lauren Clark earned a win and the Catamounts picked up seven second place finishes as they fell 224-76 to UConn in a dual meet from the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium Sunday afternoon. "We're looking forward to competing at home next Saturday and honoring our great group of seniors. HOW IT HAPPENED Clark won her fourth race of the season Sunday with a time of 2:04.01 in the 200 Fly. Natalie Schick's new varsity record in the 100 Back lasted less than 24 hours as she reset the mark again Sunday with a second-place time of 54.67. She swam the event one-tenth of a second faster today. Schick also finished second for the Catamounts in the 200 Back with a time of 2:00.56. Her time today was her second fastest this season in the event. Kara Cullinan swam a season-best 5:01.15 to finish second overall in the 500 Free. It was her fourth second place finish this season. Havana Layton continued a strong weekend for herself placing second in the 100 Free with a time of 51.46. It was Layton's best-ever time in the event. Amy Kenworthy also placed second in the 1000 Free with a time of a 10:12.63. Emma Freer placed second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:27.31, it was her third fastest time this season. The Catamounts closed out the afternoon with a second-place finish in the 200 Free Relay. Ellie Fazio, Layton, Anastazja Szukala and Izzy Macheel finished in a time of 1:34.01. WHO'S NEXT The Catamounts return home next Saturday, January 24 as they host Siena at 1 p.m. from Forbush Natatorium for their annual Senior Meet, with the pre-meet ceremony presented by the UVM Alumni Association. UVM will be honoring 11 Catamounts who will be competing at home for the final time Saturday. Saturday's meet and the ceremony will be streamed live on AmericaEast.TV. Saturday is also the Catamounts America East Spread Respect meet. As part of the Spread Respect initiative, fans are invited to bring new or gently used children's books that celebrate diversity and inclusion.
