Central NY Braces for Dangerously Cold Weekend Weather

Dangerously cold weather is on the way for Central New York, with frigid conditions arriving later this week. A weak clipper system moving through Wednesday into Thursday will bring snow showers across Central New York, with northern Oneida County under a winter weather advisory for 3 to 7 inches of snow through Thursday afternoon. An arctic cold front arrives Friday, plunging temperatures to dangerous levels, with wind chills of 10 to 20 degrees below zero possible across much of the region Friday night through Saturday. The protective arctic high-pressure system is now forecast to weaken and shift northward into Canada, potentially exposing the Binghamton area and northeastern Pennsylvania to moderate to heavy snowfall. Considerable uncertainty remains about the storm’s exact track and snowfall amounts, as the system is still four to five days away.
