Canada's Freestyle Skiing Team for Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games Revealed

The 25 athletes named to Canada’s freestyle skiing Olympic team for Milano Cortina 2026 were announced by Freestyle Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee on Tuesday (20 January)*. The roster features a mix of returning Olympians and athletes looking to make their Olympic debut, competing across moguls, the newly added Olympic discipline of dual moguls, aerials, halfpipe, slopestyle, and big air. The team is headlined by Mikaël Kingsbury, the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic gold medallist and silver medallist from both Sochi 2014 and Beijing 2022, who will make his fourth Olympic appearance after earning his 100th career FIS World Cup victory earlier this month. Framing his selection as what is likely to be his final Olympic appearance, Kingsbury reflected on the significance of returning to the Games once more. “It’s an honour for me to represent Canada at the Olympic Games for the fourth time in my career,” said Kingsbury. “I always felt it was a privilege to wear my country’s colours and this year will be even more memorable for me. For the first time in Olympic Games history, we will have two events. Of course, my desire is to step on the podium at the end of both events. It would be a great way to celebrate what will probably be my last Games.” Also named to the team are returning halfpipe Olympic medalists, including gold and silver medalist Cassie Sharpe and bronze medalist Rachael Karker. Lewis Irving, Marion Thénault, and Miha Fontaine, who claimed bronze in the inaugural aerials mixed team event at Beijing 2022, also return to the Canadian Olympic roster. Freestyle skiing events at Milano Cortina 2026 will be contested at the Livigno Snow Park and the Livigno Aerials & Moguls Park. Athletes qualified for Team Canada based on their performances throughout the Olympic qualification window. All nominations are subject to final approval by the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Team Selection Committee following receipt of nominations from the National Sport Organizations. *As National Olympic Committees have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games, athletes' participation at the Milano Cortina Games depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation at Milano Cortina 2026.
