Brooklyn Peltz Beckham Breaks Silence on David & Victoria Beckham Feud

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham says he was left with “no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth” as he broke his silence about his now-confirmed feud with his parents, Sir David Beckham and Lady Victoria Beckham. The 26-year-old posted a lengthy social media statement on Tuesday morning (AEDT), directly addressing his relationship with his parents after years of speculation following his wedding to Nicola Peltz Beckham. “I do not want to reconcile with my family,” Brooklyn Beckham told his 16.1 million followers on Tuesday morning. “I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.” The eldest son of the English football legend and the former Spice Girl accused his parents of “trying endlessly to ruin” his relationship with Nicola, 31, before, during and after their 2022 wedding. Advertisement “My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one,” Brooklyn wrote. He said he had “made every effort to keep these matters private” but claimed his parents and their team had “continued to go to the press” about the matter. David and Victoria have never publicly acknowledged the rift, and have not commented on Brooklyn’s statement. How did we get here? Brooklyn alleged that he was subject to “endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders”. Advertisement He claimed his parents “place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade”. In his statement, Brooklyn addressed a key rumour that had been circulating in the tabloids since he tied the knot with the billionaire heiress in a three-day-long, no-expenses-spared extravaganza at the Peltz family’s $US76 million ($113 million), 44,000-square-foot oceanfront estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Loading The wedding dress debacle and the ‘hijacked’ first dance Reports at the time suggested that Nicola refused to wear a custom wedding dress made by her mother-in-law, who is a fashion designer. Nicola later told the Times that Victoria realised her atelier could not finish the gown in time, and denied claims of a feud in a March 2023 Cosmopolitan cover interview. Advertisement Ultimately, Nicola – who was weathering separate “nightmare bride” allegations due to a lawsuit filed by her father against her second wedding planners – walked down the aisle wearing a Valentino Haute Couture creation. In his statement on Tuesday morning, Brooklyn accused Victoria of trying to derail his wedding, including cancelling Nicola’s wedding dress plans “in the eleventh hour, despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress”. He also claimed Victoria hijacked his first dance with Nicola, which is partially why the couple decided to renew their vows in an August 2025 ceremony led by Nicola’s father, Nelson Peltz, to create new memories “that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment”. The Beckhams did not attend. “In front of 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead,” Brooklyn wrote in his statement of his 2022 wedding. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.” Previous reports in tabloids claimed Nicola had left the room in tears after Anthony had announced at the event: “Please welcome to the stage the most beautiful woman in the room … Victoria Beckham.” Drama at David Beckham’s 50th birthday party Rumours of a rift had circulated since the wedding, and were heightened after Brooklyn’s role in both his parents’ Netflix docuseries – 2023’s Beckham and 2025’s Victoria Beckham – was limited to cameos via archival footage. Advertisement But speculation reached fever pitch in May 2025, when Brooklyn and Nicola did not attend David’s mammoth 50th birthday celebrations, nor share birthday messages online. Brooklyn claimed in his statement that he and Nicola had travelled to London for his father’s birthday celebrations, but were “rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him”. “[David] refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner,” Brooklyn said. When David agreed to see Brooklyn, the statement alleged, it was under the condition that Nicola was not invited. Brooklyn said it was “a slap in the face” and that his family refused to see him on a subsequent trip to Los Angeles, where he and Nicola live. Advertisement Did Brooklyn Beckham block his family on social media? In June, reports emerged that Brooklyn and Nicola had hired the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s “reputation management” lawyer. In January, the Daily Mail reported that at one point, Brooklyn had asked his parents to contact him only via his legal representation. That followed a statement shared to Instagram by Cruz Beckham, 20, who claimed in December that Brooklyn had blocked him and their parents on social media. Meanwhile, Brooklyn claimed that Cruz and their 23-year-old brother Romeo Beckham were “sent to attack me on social media” and then blocked him “out of nowhere” in the northern hemisphere’s summer. Advertisement That’s when Romeo split from British DJ Kim Turnbull after seven months of dating. Turnbull is rumoured to have dated Brooklyn previously. Brooklyn claimed in his statement that Victoria had “repeatedly invited women from my past” into his life in ways he alleges were “clearly intended” to make him and Nicola uncomfortable. Where to now? “The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards,” Brooklyn wrote. “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life,” he alleged.
