Blake Coleman's Return Imminent? Flames Forward Takes Morning Skate

The Calgary Flames could see the return of one of their top goal scorers in the near future. Forward Blake Coleman was seen taking morning skate on Monday, albeit in a yellow non-contact jersey, per Sportsnet's Pat Steinberg. The 34-year-old has missed four consecutive games while battling the lingering ailment and was previously placed on injured reserve for it on Jan. 13. Coleman has not played since Jan. 8 against the Boston Bruins, a game that he left early. Afterward, head coach Ryan Huska said Coleman was "probably just a little bit sore and not anything we wanted to push at that time." Through 44 games this season, Coleman has 13 goals — tied for most on the Flames — and eight assists, for 21 points. He also leads the team with three game-winning goals this season. Coleman is in the fifth year of a six-year, $29.4-million contract, set to expire at the end of the 2026-27 season. Through his 667-game career, he's played for the Flames, Tampa Bay Lightning and New Jersey Devils. As for the Flames, they return to action on Monday night. It'll be Calgary's first game since dealing away Rasmus Andersson, hosting the New Jersey Devils on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 9 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. MT.
