Berlinale Unveils Exciting Golden Bear Contenders for 76th Edition

Films starring Pamela Anderson, Channing Tatum and Sandra Hüller are among the 22 productions in the running for the Golden Bear at this year's Berlin International Film Festival. Director Tricia Tuttle on Tuesday unveiled the contenders for the top prize at the Berlinale, considered one of the world's top film festivals alongside Cannes and Venice. The festival's 76th edition runs from February 12-22 in the German capital. The competition for the Golden Bear - won in 2025 by Norwegian director Dag Johan Haugerud's "Dreams (Sex Love)" - includes "Rosebush Pruning" by Brazilian director Karim Aïnouz, starring Anderson alongside Elle Fanning, Callum Turner and Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough. Famed German actress Hüller appears in Austrian filmmaker Markus Schleinzer's "Rose." Also in the running are "Josephine" with US star Tatum, directed by Beth de Araújo, and Kornél Mundruczó's "At the Sea," featuring Amy Adams. Three films by German directors are included on the list: "Yellow Letters" by Ilker Çatak, "My Wife Cries" by Angela Schanelec and "Something Very Special" by Eva Trobisch. Celebrated director Wim Wenders - known for classics such as "Paris, Texas" and "Wings of Desire" - chairs the International Jury this year, with actress Michelle Yeoh set to receive the Honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement and composer Max Richter to be honoured with the Berlinale Camera award.
