FC Barcelona & Slavia Prague Join Forces in Childhood Cancer Fight

The UCL League Phase match between Slavia Prague and FC Barcelona to be played today at the Fortuna Arena in the Czech capital has provided the opportunity for both clubs to organise an act of solidarity for children with cancer. At the heart of the action are Dominik and Adam, two nine-year-old Czech boys who have cancer. Dominik is an FC Barcelona fan, while Adam is a Slavia Prague fan. They will both have the opportunity to watch the game live, say hello to the players and enjoy a unique experience from the stands in the stadium. The two boys feature in this moving video. Before the game, Dominik and Adam will be waiting for the Slavia Prague and FC Barcelona players in the tunnel to greet them just before they go onto the pitch. Afterwards in the mix zone, players from both teams will give them some gifts and there will be a group photo featuring the boys and representatives from both clubs, with a banner stating 'Together Against Cancer', as a symbol of unity and the shared commitment to fighting childhood cancer. Despite the on-pitch rivalry, FC Barcelona and Slavia Prague are coming together in this act of solidarity to make a joint statement about values, social commitment and support for children with serious diseases. In this case, the act symbolises the union between both clubs through two boys who live with cancer and represent the colours of each team. The disease and the treatments they receive mean neither Dominik nor Adam can live a normal life for their age. As such, having experiences linked to their passion for football has a very positive impact on their emotional well-being, and enables them to turn their thoughts away from the reality of the disease for a few hours. Blaugrana bracelets This initiative is part of the Barça Foundation Blaugrana Bracelet programme, a symbol of the solidarity of the Club with children and young people with serious diseases. The programme aims to improve the emotional well-being of children and adolescents who have to spend long periods in hospital, as well as offering more human and closer approach both for the patients and their families during particularly delicate moments. The blaugrana bracelets bring FC Barcelona close to children and young people with these diseases as part of the emotional support programme, which as medical studies have shown, can help them deal with the process from an emotional standpoint.
