Bali Reclaims Top Spot: World's Best Tourism Destination 2026

Bali has once again affirmed its position as the world’s top tourism destination after ranking first in the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Destination List 2026. Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday, January 16, 2026, expressed appreciation for the trust and positive assessments given by international travelers to Bali. “Thank you for the reviews and ratings given to Bali through TripAdvisor. Bali’s selection as the world’s best tourism destination according to TripAdvisor shows that the island remains a global tourism magnet,” Widiyanti said. Bali’s first-place ranking in the Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Destination List 2026 marks the highest position the island has ever achieved in TripAdvisor’s history. Previously, Bali had consistently ranked among the Top 10 destinations but had never reached the number one spot. The awards are based on reviews and ratings from global travelers throughout 2025. In the list, Bali outperformed several iconic world destinations, including London (the 2024 winner), Dubai, Hanoi, Paris, and Rome. In addition to being named the World’s Best Destination, Bali also received several other prestigious honors: first place as the Best Honeymoon Destination, Top 10 Best Cultural Destination, Top 10 Best Solo Travel Destination, and Top 20 World’s Trending Cities. This achievement is expected to encourage improvements in service quality and strengthen sustainable tourism principles across Indonesia, while also attracting more high-quality tourists in the future. “Going forward, we want to ensure that Bali continues to grow as a high-quality tourism destination that benefits local communities, preserves the environment, and inspires the world,” Widiyanti said.
