Police have seized a dark Toyota van linked to a targeted shooting in Onehunga, Auckland. Offenders exited the vehicle, fired shots through a victim's closed front door, and fled. CCTV footage led to the van's recovery in Māngere. The victim is in stable condition, and the investigation continues.
A vehicle has been seized by police in relation to a "targeted" shooting in Auckland's Onehunga last week, which left one critically injured.
Senior Sergeant Matt Bunce said a dark-coloured Toyota van was seen pulling up in front of the Arthur St address shortly after 11am on Friday.
“As the van pulled into the driveway, a group of people got out and fired shots towards the victim through the closed front door, before getting back in the van and driving away," he said.
Bunce said CCTV footage of the incident helped identify the vehicle, which was recovered in Māngere early on Saturday evening.
"The person who reported the van to us thought it looked suspicious and called to tell us its location," he said.
"Subsequently, we’ve now got another piece of the puzzle to help the investigation, as the van has been forensically examined."
The victim remained in a stable condition in hospital and police said inquiries into the incident remained ongoing.
