Atong Ang's 5 Firearms Handed Over to Philippine National Police

Five firearms registered under businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang were surrendered to the police in compliance with the rules and regulations on gun ownership, his lawyer disclosed on Wednesday, Jan. 21. Lawyer Gabriel Villareal said the five guns were already turned over to the Mandaluyong Police Station on Tuesday, Jan. 20, adding that they also informed the head of the Firearms and Explosives Office of the Philippine National Police (PNP-FEO) about the turnover of the guns. “This is in faithful compliance with the foregoing directives, and without prejudice to remedies available to him under the law,” said Villareal. “Our client has peacefully surrendered the following firearms through his duly authorized representative at the Mandaluyong Police Station, the nearest police station to his residence,” he added. Those surrendered were a Colt rifle, 5.56 caliber; Glock 9 mm; Sig Sauer 9 mm; Smith & Wesson .38 caliber; and Battle Arms Development (BAD) 9 mm pistol. Attached in the letter addressed to PNP-FEO acting head Brig. Gen. Jose Manalad were the itemized firearms and acknowledgement receipt from the Mandaluyong City Police. Earlier, authorities said Ang has six registered firearms that need to be surrendered. This was acknowledged by Villareal but he was quick to point out that the sixth firearm, a .260 caliber BAD rifle, was missing in October last year He said they already informed the PNP about the missing firearm. “We attached herewith the affidavit of loss executed by Mr. Ang in October 2025 attesting to the circumstances surrounding the loss of said firearm, as well as the blotter report from the Mandaluyong Police Station,” Villareal said. Ang is currently in hiding after two courts issued arrest warrants against him in connection with the missing sabungeros case.
