National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has expressed gratitude to the people of Wenchi for their overwhelming support in the December 2024 general elections, describing the results as both impressive and encouraging for the party.
Addressing community leaders and party supporters at Nkonsia in the Wenchi Constituency, Mr Nketiah emphasised that the NDC does not take the mandate given by Ghanaians lightly.
His remarks were part of a two-day “Thank You” tour of the Bono Region aimed at engaging local stakeholders and consolidating grassroots support.
“The people of Wenchi showed remarkable commitment to the party during both the presidential and parliamentary polls. It is now our collective responsibility to continue working together to drive development and restore Wenchi to its rightful prominence,” he said, urging residents to remain focused and determined in the face of the work ahead.
Highlighting ongoing infrastructure projects, Mr Nketiah noted that the government was aware of the poor state of roads in the area.
He mentioned the awarding of contracts for the Wenchi–Wa road, the inclusion of the Wenchi–Sampa road under the “Big Push” initiative, and plans for the Nsawkaw–Berekum road, emphasising that their completion would significantly enhance connectivity and promote regional development.
Supporting the chairman’s remarks, Haruna Seidu, Member of Parliament for Wenchi, said the constituency had already seen notable improvements under the current administration.
The Wenchi Akyeamehene, Nana Damoah Koasane Adusi Poku Kafabaae IV, praised the government for its initiatives and called for urgent measures to address youth unemployment as part of broader efforts to boost the socio-economic development of the area.
